DRAKE’S ‘SCORPION’ IS MAKING HISTORY
One day after its release, Drake’s 25-track double album has reportedly shattered the global opening day streaming record on Spotify. According to reports, Scorpion was streamed 132 million times worldwide on its first day.
The record was previously held by Post Malone’s sophomore album beerbongs & bentleys, which earned 78 million streams on its opening day on April 27.
After surpassing 300 million worldwide streams within its first 24 hours, the 25-track set was streamed over 435 million times in the U.S. from June 29 through July 1. The double album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America upon its release.
In addition to his platinum certification, Drake has reached another RIAA milestone. He was named the Top Digital Song Artist with 142 million digital singles to date.
Scorpion is also on track to become Drake’s eighth consecutive No. 1. All seven of his previous full-length albums have debuted at No. 1.
