The R&B singer’s official follow-up to 2017's TRIP, features some of hip-hop and R&B’s biggest names!
In addition to Big Sean on “None of Your Concern,” the 20 tracks include appearances from H.E.R., John Legend, Ab-Soul, Ty Dolla $ign, and her father, Dr. Chill who also did the album art. Future and Miguel join the L.A. songstress on “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.),” while the legendary Nas guests on “10K Hours.”
Chilombo, which is the singer’s last name and means wild beast, has already spawned a trio of singles–the platinum-certified “Triggered,” “None of Your Concern,” and “P*$$y Fairy (OTW).”
“I recorded it on my phone and thought this would be perfect,” she said of her mantra music.
She did state in a series of tweets recently that this album was the "realest shit I ever wrote." For her die-hard fans, she described it as "if sailing soul(s), sail out, souled out and trip had a baby."
If 2017’s Trip was Aiko’s escape from her grief through psychedelic drugs, Chilombo is her reclaiming of power through vibrational healing as she celebrates her coming into her own personal power.
“I make music for healing purposes, for myself,” Jhené told in an interview. “It’s like journaling or when people paint. It’s sort of an escape. It’s turning pain or frustration into something; into art. Sharing it is also therapeutic because when people express to you that they are relating to it, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m not alone in what I’m going through.'”
CHILOMBO is set to arrive on March 6th.
