“Not Another Love Song" marks the Grammy Award-winning artist’s first new music since her acclaimed 2018 debut, Ella Mai! The British R&B artist explained that the song “is about falling in love but not wanting to admit it, so it’s quite vulnerable but still has an edge to it," which sees production from Boi-1da, Jahaan Sweet, and The Rascals.Ella Mai announced her return to music earlier this week via social media, where she shared a photo of herself in the studio with her pup.“thierrys reaction when he found out new music is coming before scorpio season,” she captioned the post.Ella Mai further explained the song during an interview with BET:“I think we’ve all been in a place of trying to navigate the feeling of, ‘Am I in love? Am I not in love?’ If I say it too soon, will I mess things up? Or just, do I really want to admit that I’m in love? I sat down with one of my favorite writers who I wrote “Trip” with, Varren Wade, and we were just talking. ... We were like, “This is special.” So I’m really excited about it.” Presumably, this means that a sophomore LP isn’t too far into the distance.Listen to the song below.Mai’s captivating self-titled debut album was released in 2018, following EPs Time and Change (both 2016) and 2017’s Ready, which featured the singer-songwriter’s Grammy Award-winning hit, “Boo’d Up.” The multi-platinum-selling song put Mai on the map, peaking at No.5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping the Hot R&B Songs chart (making Mai the first British artist to hit No.1 on the US chart since 1992). A remix, featuring Nicki Minaj and Quavo, soon followed. The DJ Mustard protégé followed with single “Trip,” off her full-length. The song once again hit No.1 on Billboard’s R&B chart and peaked at No.11 on the Hot 100. The album, which featured appearances by John Legend and H.E.R., among others, was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.Revisit the album here.

M$TRYO is someone you won’t miss inside a room full of people! The hip-hop artist's newest track. ‘E-boy 17 (My Balenciaga Story)’ shows listeners a “new” world brought about by connecting with others online at a time when we are forced to limit our interaction and are forced to stay indoors.“This is a song about an e-boy, an e-girl and the Balenciaga love story they share, even if they don’t know each other in real life,” enthuses M$TRYO.“I got inspired after watching the movie Ready Player One, so I portrayed that movie’s setting.”The artist also drew inspiration for the new single from various artwork, the idea of avatars, high fashion and the endless possibilities on the digital sphere. ‘E-boy 17’ conveys a message of invention and reinvention in what seems to be a digital multiverse, exploring the complexities of a personality in a way that one can’t in person. It is through this that the mix of all these ideas that Balenciaga love story was born and eventually executed in a song.‘E-boy 17 (My Balenciaga Story)’ is produced through executing new ad libs in a fresh manner, with some parts rapped in Filipino, others in English. “[I wanted to explore] yung music na sobrang kakaiba and unexpected, with [its] awkward flow, awkward keys,” explains M$TRYO. The story behind how the single was created tells us that this definitely goes beyond the trendy luxury brand. But what makes ‘E-boy 17’ even more special is that it is M$TRYO’s release for his birthday this year. The artist claims that producing a track during the pandemic has been challenging. However, ‘E-boy 17 (My Balenciaga Story)’ was created with the same personal writing and creative process as his other tracks: with M$TRYO taking his time with it and not forcing it out “Kaya siguro matagal akong makapaglabas ng kanta,” he shares. “Mahirap; maraming nagbago [ngayong pandemic]. Pero it is what it is. So, you just do it.”It’s not surprising that his first single released under MCA Music is ‘Divisoria,’ where he had first-hand experience slumming its streets. He then followed it with the inspiring tune “Balanse (Sana All),’ his “prescription”to everyone who are treated differently like him.Stream M$TRYO's new single here.

Doja Cat’s first-ever performance on the VMA  stage found her bathed in hot fuchsia as she delivered her hits "Say So" and "Like That.” She also accepts her PUSH Best New Artist award and thanked her fans as well as her mom, cementing her place as a unique talent to continue watching. "I'm always kind of winging it," she told MTV News correspondent Dometi Pongo. "I have my album coming — can't say when. I really want to make it a surprise. I don't want to say too much," Doja said, carefully. But though she couldn't reveal any specifics, she said the new album's energy in grounded in how each new song has its own "personality." I'm trying to cover all bases."Watch the full interview below. She told MTV News the mere shock of winning made her first thing she was being fooled. "I thought it was a sick prank!" she said. "No, I was really, really excited to find that out and I didn't know how to try to hold myself back from tears. I usually say that I don't care about this kind of thing, but I actually do. I now know that I do care about getting this award, a lot." "It means that there are people out there who enjoy my music and they care about me, like they care about the craft," she continued. "They care about what I'm doing. That's amazing for me because I just enjoy doing it, period. If people didn't like it, I'd probably still be doing it, but it's really cool that people support it."
